Politiwatch is an American 501(c)(3) nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that advocates for freedom of information, digital privacy rights, and political accountability. We were founded in 2016 with the goal of combating political ignorance, promoting privacy, and making civic information more accessible.

The mission of Politiwatch is to promote government transparency, combat politically-fueled ignorance, make information more accessible, promote privacy, and increase the accountability of public figures using technology.

Politiwatch aims to bridge the information gap that has formed between the government and the people by making information more accessible than it has ever been before.

Through various initiatives, Politiwatch makes it easier to know who represents you in government, what those representatives are saying, and what those representatives don't want you to know about them.

The world has evolved, and so has politics. It's time for us as a society to catch up.

We are a tech non-profit.

Worth Hiding

Worth Hiding is Politiwatch's digital publication that focuses on issues of privacy, civic engagement, cybersecurity, and technology. It maintains a high standard of content, and publishes regularly.

Since Worth Hiding is independently edited, it does not necessarily represent the views of Politiwatch.

PolitiTweet is an open database that monitors the Twitter accounts of over 800 public figures. Nowadays, Twitter is one of the most direct ways that public figures communicate with their audience. Unfortunately, tweets can be easily removed and entire accounts have been deleted.

By archiving all of their tweets (even the deleted ones!), PolitiTweet provides journalists and citizens alike the stable platform they need in order to keep public figures accountable.

Who Are My Representatives

WhoAreMyRepresentatives.org is a popular tool that shows you the government officials who represent you based on your address, from the President to the local coroner.

While it's easy to find your Senators online, it is much more difficult to find every official who represents you (who even knew there was 'Register of Wills and Clerk of Orphans' Court').

WhoAreMyRepresentatives.org makes it easy to understand your government, and gives you the information about your representatives necessary to make a change, such as their addresses, phone numbers, Twitters, and Wikipedia pages. It has been used over 200,000 times, and has been featured in various news outlets.

Tor Nodes

Politiwatch contributes significant computing power and bandwidth to the Tor network. Our nodes are operated out of Germany, the United Kingdom, and Singapore.

The Tor network fights mass surveillance and government censorship and allows for secure and anonymous digital communications for journalists, whistleblowers, and everyone else.

BibleOrQuran is an online game that aims to educate people about the true nature and content of the Bible and Qur'an. By showing random Bible or Qur'an passages and having the player choose which text is the source, BibleOrQuran shows how similar the two texts are and allay many of the fears of Islam and its teachings.

BibleOrQuran has been played over 25,000 times, and collects data about which verses from both texts are most commonly answered incorrectly, as well as what geographical regions the players come from. This data will be used to aid in research combating Islamophobia in the United States and around the world.

Foia.fyi guides you through the daunting process of submitting a FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) request to government agencies such as the CIA, FBI, NSA, and IRS.

The tool is completely open-source, and runs completely locally (so no sensitive information ever leaves your browser).
